State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI)

The State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) is a federal program designed to help small businesses access the funding they need to grow and create jobs. Originally established under the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010 and expanded by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, SSBCI provides billions in funding to support entrepreneurship and increase access to capital—especially for underserved communities. In California, SSBCI programs are administered by state agencies including the California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank (IBank) and the California Pollution Control Financing Authority.
